KMT technical has made a conscious effort to gain a greater understanding of environmental impact and sustainability – especially as it relates to the building industry. As a result we’ve wholeheartedly embraced the green initiative and I dedicated to providing the most energy-efficient and environmentally safe AV systems possible.
Our commitment to sustainability
KMT Technical is committed to integrating AV solutions that will reduce costs, reduce energy usage and offer long-term environmental and financial benefits to our customers. Going green is not only good for the planet, it’s good for you bottom line.
Audiovisual technologies in green buildings
Now more than ever, audiovisual and presentation technologies are becoming fundamental business tools. Technology is converging with design in today’s builds and AV equipment is found everywhere people learn, work, and meet. In many environments, AV, communication, control, information technologies our critical to business.
AV integration that works
Integrating sustainable AV doesn’t require major building renovation or an enormous budget. We can design a custom solution for your current facility that will not only reduce energy, but also help cut operation costs.
Partnerships for change
Green building is our single greatest opportunity to make immediate measurable action on critical issues of climate change. As such, KMT technical chooses to partner with leading manufacturers that have focused AV technologies that can save energy and reduce your companies carbon footprint. Additionally we are committed to recycling all obsolete AV equipment. We work directly with our partners to implement ethical and sustainable recycling effort.
How we do it, join us
One of the easiest ways to ensure a sustainable AV installation is to be sure energy is not wasted with the AV system. We empower our integration team to focus on designing the best solution for your product integration of power monitoring RT components to sustainable AV system installations. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your project please contact us for further information.
We take responsibility for the design and implementation of your audiovisual systems, help train your staff, develop policies and procedures manuals, and maintain your as-built documentation.
The impact of LEED
Our design objective focus is on AV technologies that will be cost-effective, conserve energy, and create a long-term value for our customers.
AV technologies for health, safety & welfare
Over the past decade, significant developments in AV technology have greatly improved occupational health and safety.
Sustainable Technology Environments Program
In 2009, the InfoComm Board of Directors authorized the creation of a Green AV Task Force. The mission of the group was to create a body of green AV knowledge and associated best practices. While a lot of good work was performed, including the creation of a poster that highlights the steps a company can take to work towards sustainability, the group was unable to meet its mandate because there was/is no generally accepted definition of what a green AV system and there is no clear way to measure or compare a “green AV” installation against a standard “non-green AV” system. As a result, the InfoComm Board of Directors has decided to deemphasize the association’s pursuit of LEED innovation points for Green AV and instead create our own AV sustainability rating system. A new AV Sustainability Task Force made up of representatives from AV manufacturing, integration, consulting, software programming and the technology manager communities was formed to guide the initiative. It was charged to consider both the sustainability of energy and materials in order to be a comprehensive program. Sustainable Technology Environments Program TM or STEP TM seeks to learn from and complement LEED, which focuses on the shell and core of a building, by adding a rating system for the electronic systems that work within that shell and core. The system, now in draft form, invites participation throughout the project — from AV program phase through occupancy from the entire AV value chain. Now, AV manufacturers will have a place where their green products, shipping practices and facilities can count for something. Consultants, integrators and software programmers will collaborate to share responsibility in the planning, design, integration and programming of systems to minimize energy consumption while still promoting AV quality. Purchasers of AV goods and services will have a clear way to specify their sustainability goals and measure the ROI of their sustainable AV investments. STEP TM launched in January 2011.
